Councillor John Hartley is calling on Droitwich residents to help ‘bring football home’ to the town.
For four years, Droitwich Spa FC has been playing their home games away from Droitwich Spa due to their pitch not being up to ground grading levels.
After working with Wychavon District Council, the town’s much-loved football club has been given the opportunity to have their own stadia pitch alongside the 4G pitch at King Georges Playing Fields.
Now, Councillor John Hartley, who represents Droitwich Central Ward on Wychavon District Council, is urging local residents to support the club’s fundraising efforts.
Cllr Hartley said: “Droitwich Spa FC is a real asset to our town, and I encourage all residents to back their campaign to bring football home to the town.
“Growing up in Droitwich I have seen first-hand the stellar work of the club. DSFC plays an important role in the community by encouraging participation across a range of age groups and abilities, to improve the health and wellbeing of our residents.”
The money raised will be used by the club to meet their ground grading requirements and to improve facilities.
Cllr Hartley added: “At Wychavon I constantly bang the drum for Droitwich, and I am proud to be part of a council where investment in community infrastructure is high on the agenda.
“I’m proud Conservative-led Wychavon District Council has demonstrated strong financial stewardship over the last decade that has enabled funding towards grass roots community initiatives through the hugely important Wychavon Community Legacy Grant scheme.
“Well done to all the management and stakeholders for the huge effort in getting to this stage. Let’s all get behind the club and bring football home!”
