Nigel Huddleston has welcomed the announcement that Worcestershire is to receive a £300,000 grant to help ease congestion and improve road safety in the county.
Worcestershire is one of just nineteen councils across England to receive a grant as part of a £4million Government technology funding scheme, and received the largest share available. The funds will be used to develop an information sharing system, so that traffic incidents can be dealt with quickly by highway staff and vehicles.
Responding to the news of Worcestershire’s successful bid, Nigel said:
“This is great news for Worcestershire, and it is a credit to the brilliant bid submitted by Worcestershire County Council that we are receiving the largest share of the available funding. I know from emails and letters I receive that traffic congestion and road safety are two top concerns for my Mid Worcestershire constituents and the allocation of these funds is a welcome indication that the Government is committed to addressing them.”
