Mid Worcestershire MP Nigel Huddleston has congratulated Bromsgrove MP Sajid Javid on his appointment as Home Secretary. Mr Javid moved from his position as Secretary of State for Housing, Communities and Local Government. He had also previously held Cabinet positions as Business, Innovation and Skills Secretary and Culture, Media and Sport Secretary.
Following the announcement, Nigel Huddleston said, “I am delighted that my constituency neighbour Sajid Javid has been appointed Home Secretary. Sajid has held Cabinet and Ministerial positions across Government and brings a breadth of knowledge and expertise to the role. His work on cyber security and digital issues as both Business and Culture Secretary will provide him with a particularly valuable knowledge base for the important job he now has ahead of him.
I have seen first-hand the dedication that Sajid brings to his work for his Bromsgrove constituents and have had the privilege of working with him on a number of local issues. I am confident that he will bring that passion and dedication to the Home Office. Sajid has achieved something truly historic in becoming the first ever BAME head of one of the Great Offices of State and has done so on the basis of his own merit and tireless hard work. It is fantastic for local people to see Worcestershire so ably represented at the top of British politics.”
