Nigel Huddleston, MP for Mid Worcestershire, welcomes the announcement that the National Lottery has granted funding to a World War Two heritage project in Norton. The Norton Community Trust has been awarded a grant of £3,800 for a 10 month project entitled ‘Historical Records of World War 2 Veterans’. This local project will emphasise the Second World War heritage of Norton and will focus on the lives of eight veterans living in the area.
The National Lottery established the Heritage Lottery Fund to enable Britons to celebrate, look after and learn more about our diverse heritage. Since its formation in 1994, the National Lottery has awarded over 600 grants to projects in Mid Worcestershire, providing funds of more than £28 million.
Nigel Huddleston said:
“I am delighted that yet another project in Mid Worcestershire has received National Lottery funding. The Norton Community Trust does fantastic work developing cultural and educational events for the people of Worcestershire and this funding will ensure it can draw attention to an important part of Norton’s heritage. I would urge any local groups or individuals who feel they can make a lasting difference to sustaining our heritage to follow the Norton Community Trust’s lead and apply for Heritage Lottery Funding."
