It has been announced that between 2010 and 2015, Worcestershire’s productivity grew at an average rate of 3% a year, the highest of any county in the country.
The news was announced by the Worcestershire Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP), which has been central to the county’s recent impressive growth. This news comes at the same time as other positive developments, with the Midlands Engine strategy allocating Worcestershire £17.5 million at the end of last week, including £5 million for a new Northern Link Road between Pershore and the A44.
Reacting to the announcement, Nigel Huddleston – MP for Mid Worcestershire – commented: “Worcestershire is a county with immense productive potential and it is fantastic to see conclusive evidence that this potential is being harnessed effectively. The work of the LEP has been hugely beneficial to the county in recent years and these figures reflect outstandingly on the work that they have been doing in conjunction with the District and County Councils, as well as myself and other Worcestershire MPs.
Based on the many visits I have made to businesses in my constituency, I am confident that this rate of growth can continue and be built upon. Worcestershire is home to innumerable extraordinary people and enterprises and this achievement represents a statement of this fact to the rest of the country.”
