Mid Worcestershire MP Nigel Huddleston has welcomed recent news that the NHS Trust responsible for community nursing, therapy and mental health services in Worcestershire has been rated among the best in the country for its overall performance.
Worcestershire Health and Care NHS Trust has been placed in ‘Segment 1’ by an independent organisation called NHS Improvement which supports Trusts across the country to provide safe care to patients. There are four segments with 1 being the best.
The Health and Care Trust runs the county’s community hospitals, minor injury units, recovery wards, community/district nursing and therapy services as well as a range of mental health care
In addition to the high quality patient care it provides, the Trust has also hit all its financial targets, including achieving a surplus enabling continued investments into its local facilities.
Nigel Huddleston, MP for Mid Worcestershire, said: “given the positive feedback that I receive about Worcestershire’s community care services, I am delighted but unsurprised that our local Health and Care Trust has been rated as among the best in the country by NHS Improvement.
“At a time when our Acute Trust is running under temporary special measures, it is vital that community and social care takes as much strain off Worcestershire’s hospitals as possible. It is therefore hugely encouraging that NHS Improvement have found that the Health and Care Trust is fulfilling this role so well.
I would like to extend my congratulations to all of the hard-working and dedicated staff at the Trust and hope that they can continue to provide such a high quality of care to the people of Worcestershire in the future.”
Chris Burdon, Chairman at Worcestershire Health and Care NHS Trust, said: “There are only a few Trusts nationally who are rated in this category so this is a really positive outcome for us and is further independent recognition of the quality of care we provide to our patients.
“To continue providing excellent care while maintaining a strong record of financial management is quite unique in the current climate and we are very proud of all our staff, both front-line and those supporting our clinical teams, for their ongoing focus and commitment.”
