On Wednesday 6th March, Small Business Minister Kelly Tolhurst MP announced an independent Review into Young Entrepreneurship, to be led by the Prince’s Trust. The review will seek to better understand young entrepreneurs in England, the specific barriers and opportunities they face, and what more can be done by the private, public and third sector to support them as they try to grow a business.
The review held its official launch event at the Prince’s Trust offices in Poplar, East London. Ms Tolhurst was joined at the launch by Conservative Party Vice Chairman and Mid Worcestershire MP Nigel Huddleston, as well as a number of young entrepreneurs. The event celebrated the wealth of young business talent in the UK and explored ways that this talent could be fully unlocked and supported.
Speaking after the event, Nigel Huddleston said “it was really energising to hear about the great ideas and goals young entrepreneurs are setting themselves. They were brimming with passion and creativity and this launch excited me about the prospects for British business.
“Entrepreneurship is largely about individual drive and talent, however there is a role that Government can play in creating the best possible environment for this talent to thrive in. So I congratulate my friend and colleague Kelly Tolhurst for launching this review and setting herself the goal of understanding the issues that young entrepreneurs face and how to combat them.”
Kelly Tolhurst added, “A key part of my Department’s modern Industrial Strategy is to make the UK the best place to start and grow a business. We already know that our young entrepreneurs are some of the best in the world and we continue to do well internationally.
“We can always do better and ensuring we continue to support our young entrepreneurs is vital to realising our Industrial Strategy ambition.”
