Mid Worcestershire MP Nigel Huddleston is lending his support to Evesham’s Enlighten project and is urging others to do the same.
Enlighten is Evesham’s creative lighting trail that has already successfully set up permanent lighting for the Evesham War Memorial and the Bell Tower. The project has also sought to engage communities in the creative process with families and children making lanterns, taking part in shadow puppetry and projection workshops. The next part of Enlighten will project images of Evesham’s heritage onto the Almonry museum but this is awaiting final approval. Enlighten will also look to highlight Evesham; All Saints Church, St Lawrence’s Church and the arch in the remains of The Abbey with permanent lighting. The intention is to highlight the two churches making more of the stained class and façade of the building. The project is still subject to funding but organisers hope it will be fully delivered in 2022.
Nigel Huddleston said: “This is a wonderful project that is not only creative, but will also provide a cultural attraction in the town. Anything that seeks to add to the visitor experience in Evesham should be welcomed with open arms. I look forward to seeing how this project progresses and hope to see the next phase of the project come to life.”
