The Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, Matt Hancock, has announced the release of an additional £5.6 million to Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust. The funds were released following the Department’s review of a bid submitted by the Trust and they will be used to deal with high risk estates issues and improvements to the critical clinical IT systems. The funds will be available for the Trust to access from early April.
Following the announcement, Mid Worcestershire MP Nigel Huddleston said: “I have been lobbying the Department for Health and Social Care to release urgently needed funding for the Worcestershire Acute Hospitals Trust and am delighted that Ministers have heeded my concerns. These funds will go a long way in resolving some of the estates issues facing hospitals in the Trust as well as making much-needed improvements to their IT systems. This further capital investment follows the £29 million of funding that was announced in 2017 and which has already had a positive impact on patients’ experiences in Worcestershire by improving the speed of treatment and increasing capacity. Together with my fellow Worcestershire MPs, I will continue to campaign for further investment in our region’s health service to ensure that my constituents can have access to the best possible care and facilities.”
