Further to the release I issued yesterday on the M5, I have now been informed that the ‘Managed Motorway Scheme’ will apply to Junctions 4a to 6 as originally planned and will not extend to Junction 7. The new noise reducing surfacing will therefore only be applied between Junctions 4a and 6. This means that residents in Whittington will, disappointingly, not benefit from a low noise surface as part of this investment, but I will continue to lobby ministers to ensure this noisy stretch of road is also resurfaced.
