Long-serving and dedicated County Councillor Rob Adams has announced he won’t be seeking re-election to Worcestershire County Council in May’s local elections.
Cllr Adams, who represents the Upton Snodsbury Division, was first elected to the County Council in 2005.
During his time on the County Council, Cllr Adams has chaired the Planning and Regulator Committee for the last eight years.
In that time, he has overseen many major applications such as Parkway Station, Southern Link Road improvements including Carrington Bridge, the raising of New Road, Worcester to alleviate flooding, Hoobrook Link Road in Kidderminster, and the Pinvin Crossroads improvements.
Cllr Adams said: “I was honoured to be Chairman of the County Council and in 2012 welcomed the Queen to Worcestershire for the opening of The Hive.
“With the formulation of the Armed Forces Community Covenant, I formulated and chaired a partnership for Worcestershire which supports Veterans and their families. Being interested in supporting the history of Norton Barracks brought about the building of 10 housing units for veterans working with Wychavon District Council, Rooftop Housing and the former MP for Mid Worcestershire, Sir Peter Luff.”
Cllr Adams will continue to be a member of Wychavon District Council where he began his political life in 1999.
Following Cllr Adam’s decision not to seek re-election, Linda Robinson, who currently represents Upton Snodsbury on Wychavon District Council, was chosen by Conservative Party members to be the Party’s candidate for the Upton Snodsbury Division in May’s local elections.
